This is just a very quick little video we made on my iphone, which hopefully gives a sense of the evening!
Thanks to everyone who has blogged about the event, including A Rowan Tree, Patchwork Harmony, London Bride, Shoestring Splendour, My Creative, Something I made, Living in London, Chocolate Creative and Liz King. If I've missed you off, please let me know!
If you couldn't attend, there's a chance to win a goody bag from the event - just leave a comment with a suggestion for any aspect of Craft, Shop, Mingle Part Two! I'm not immediately planning a repeat - but you never know. The activities need to be paper-themed and the main activity should use items from my shop which are in abundance; ie mainly striped paper straws, washi tape, and doilies! I'll give away 5 goody bags {which are tiny, so don't get too excited} and a few rolls of leftover tape to the best 5 suggestions! I'll pick a winner at the end of Wednesday, 27th June.
{PS, suggestions also welcome from those who did attend!}

Ooo do you accept entries from Americans living abroad? (I live in lovely Dublin, Ireland) This may sound a bit silly, but what about colorful lacey geometric kites? Cut straws and tape them up with bright washi tape into some simple geometric shapes. The fill the spaces with colorful paper and the occasional doiley. Attach some pretty ribbon or string and head out to a local park for afternoon fun. :)
I was thinking about pennant banners but I must admit Miss Incognito had already a funnier idea!
If there is a next session, I'll definitively ask for the kite kit and fix the pennant banner at its tail. :)
I wish i could i have come! well - i would make them into flowers. If you doubled straws over etc to make petals and sew together and then flatten and roll one for the flower centre, and then use one as stem perhaps. Also printing into the centre of dollies with words!
wow looks amazing!!
How about bunting making or card making? Exciting to hear that you might be doing another one - it was such a fun evening! Great video, too. x
It looks brilliant! So sad I'm not a Londoner. Now for a suggestion ... um ... how about paper garlands? Could cut paper / doiles / washi tape into shapes to make strings of garlands? Or if it's near Christmas you could do creative gift wrapping or make gift bags?
Oh I so wish I had come along to Mingle #1! Fingers crossed you do it again sometime :) My suggestion would be making our own notebooks, using washi tape as the spine binding & for decorating the covers too :p
Looks like a lovely event, Edinburgh would be a bit of a trek to attend!
How about decorating a plain paper gift bag and a matching tag. Or a bracelet (like the pasta necklaces you made when you were at school, cover little pieces of chopped up straws with the washi tape, several bangles would make a pretty accessory
Good luck with your lovely shop.
I was thinking about a little baker's twine and paper straw garland -- fold the straws in half and string together with an embroidery needle. Varying the direction could create some fun celebration textures.
Looks like great fun! Wish I had been there!
