Merry Christmas!

A quick picture from yesterday's second annual Christmas Crafternoon, with peppermint bark ready to be wrapped. It's very tasty indeed.

Have a lovely Christmas and see you all in the New Year! If you are looking for last-minute wrapping ideas, there are some cute ones here {love the button idea}, here + here.

Carriere Freres Industrie

I'm a new convert to expensive scented candles, after my Diptyque candle I bought last week {although who buys candle snuffers and wick trimmers, I would love to know.}

Next I want to try these Carriere Freres Industrie candles {£30.} Do you have a favourite candle? I'm not much of a scent connoisseur, but I think that Muji's candles {much cheaper} smell pretty good, and I love simple beeswax candles.

Christmas cards

So, I left it to the last posting day before Christmas {today} to make my Christmas cards. I should be tidying my flat for tomorrow's Christmas Crafternoon instead. These took no time at all to make; I just used a glue pen + glitter, and my new favourite toy - Dormy's DIY stamp kit {a tip off from Ellie at Home Shopping Spy.} I wanted to use softer paper with rough edges, but when you leave things to the last minute, you have to let some things go.

Today is also the day I took myself on a mission to try Starbuck's gingerbread latte {thumbs up} - easily distracted, me?

High Street Highs

A few discoveries/purchases from a local excursion {not far, due to adverse weather conditions}, mostly from Top Shop - 1. Aran Cardigan {£48, although I can't figure out why, if you need the tall version, the exact same cardigan is 90% acrylic, compared to 77% wool in the normal one}, 2. studded tights {£15, and I have to have these}, 3. Mittens {£16, which I bought as I needed gloves urgently - but I'm not really getting on with mittens}, and 4. Clarks patent brogues {£49.99.}

Homemade

My only Christmas decoration so far, and likely to be the only one - a small wreath made with bits from around the house - an embroidery hoop, gold ribbon, milk glass brooches and a few leftover pieces of eucalyptus from the florist for £1. It's my first wreath attempt, and I'm quite pleased with it. I treated myself to a Diptyque fig candle yesterday, so I think that may be the full extent of my decorations. But you never know - I bought some silver glitter the other day, and it needs a purpose...

The Animals and Children took to the Streets

Last night I went to see the most wonderful play, The Animals and Children took to the Streets, at the Battersea Arts Centre. It's a mixture of animation, puppetry and live action and is truly wonderful and visually stunning - I was transfixed. If you live in London I highly recommend it {the BAC has 'pay what you can' Tuesdays'.} It's by the 1927 theatre company and the film was animated by Paul Barritt. {Time Out Sydney loved it too.*} The above clip will give you a little bit of an idea.

*I'm on a cultural roll {often dragged along by another, more high brow, friend}- last weekend I saw the French film Of Gods and Men - oh, how I loved it, too. I'm still traumatised - has anyone else seen it?

Stunning Christmas decorations spotted on Red's new website - am even tempted to try the orange one myself (possibly next year.)

London love: Afternoon Outings

A fun gift idea, Afternoon Outings' gift certificates offer itineraries for a London adventure, with hand-drawn maps of a specific area and suggestions of what to do, all printed on pretty papers - the above is a tour of Bloomsbury (£5.52.)

Tissue paper and a fair reminder

Pretty tissue paper (£10) from Natural History.

Just a reminder that Papermash will be at the Underground Christmas Market tomorrow. I didn't get around to making vouchers, so instead just quote 'Tea for Joy' and one of these special offers if you'd like to use them:

*Buy one notebook, get a second half price.
*Spend £20, get a free I love lists, subject to availability - and not to be used in conjunction with the first offer.
*I will have a limited amount of goody bags for Tea for Joy readers - I'm not making many as I don't expect to see many of you there (but please leave a comment if you want to give me a helpful indication.) There are also free goody bags for everyone who books a ticket in advance, so it's a win, win situation!

Winter wonderland...

Lovely winter landscape from Postcarden (£7.50). Hope you are enjoying the snow. The man at the Post Office counter just told me his computer wasn't working due to 'adverse weather conditions' - it's snow excuse...
