Giveaway: Afternoon tea at Orange Pekoe

A real treat today; the lovely Marianna of Orange Pekoe is offering a giveaway of afternoon tea for two. Orange Pekoe is my favourite London tea shop - light and airy inside, serving around 50 types of teas, and decorated with enough lace and old crockery to satisfy all my vintage cravings. Orange Pekoe was crowned London's best tea room in Time Out's 2008 Food and Drink awards - click here for its 5 star review.

To enter, please leave a comment stating who your perfect afternoon tea partner would be - real or imaginary. Please don't enter unless you are able to go - the voucher will be valid for 12 months from today. For anyone planning a visit to London, Orange Pekoe is located in Barnes, close to the river and about 25 minutes by train from Waterloo station.

The winner will be selected at random at the end of next Wednesday, 15th July. Good luck! Statistically, there will be fewer readers eligible for this giveaway, due to location, so any entrants have a higher chance of winning!

Oh..what a lovely tea spot. My husband is from Aberdeen & we are hoping to get back by next summer. Oh how I would love to have a pot of English blend, a few scones, clotted cream, & lemon curd with the grandest Englishman of all times, Mr. Cary Grant!

What a lovely and very unusual giveaway! I'm a Londoner so I'd love to win! I think I would bring my mother in law, who is lovely and I don't get to see her nearly enough, it would be a great excuse for a girly afternoon out.

Can I be sappy and say I would take my other half with me? Either that or someone like Beatrix Potter – she seems like an ideal person to have tea and scones with! ;)

I go to London from time to time, but never had a chance to go there. I think Emma Cassi has done several beautiful windows projects with Orange Pekoe... and I'd love to discover this place... may be with my future husband?!!

My ideal tea partner is my mom, who lives in California and whom I don't get to see nearly often enough. We'd wear nice frocks and enjoy a sun-drizzled afternoon over tea and cakes.

How wonderful! I will be in London next year for my honeymoon! And I will say my ideal person to have tea with is my fiance... who will by that time be my husband :)

I'm currently far away but have family in London and Cambridge so will be in there within a year, for sure!

For anyone who doesn't know, Barnes itself is well worth a visit, as Lynne says, it's by the river, and despite its proximity to London it still has a village feel. Rather an upmarket village in fact, but lovely to browse!

If my tea companion could be anyone at all, I would love to meet actress Judi Dench. I think she's fascinating and so talented, and something makes me think afternoon tea would be right up her street!

Ooo Stephen Fry, or someone else very witty and quintessentially British who enjoys a good cup of tea!

Count me in! I would take afternoon tea with Truman Capote. He'd say something pithy and scathing, but deep down we'd be firm friends.

My mother and I have been talking about doing afternoon tea in England for ages. She would be the perfect person to spend an afternoon with as she is absolutely obsessed with British-style tea and tea parties. Last time we were in London she purchased 4 huge boxes of tea to take back with her to the states. She throws tea parties for and her friends on a weekly basis. She has a ridiculously large collection of tea pots and cups. Her obsession runs deep and it's beautiful!

I will be there in 2 months. Please enter me. Cheers.

I'd love to have a natter with my lovely mum at Orange Pekoe, sipping Earl Grey & tucking in to a large slice of Victoria Sponge...

Ooh what a fabulous giveaway! (even if I don't win I'll have to go, it looks gorgeous)

My favourite afternoon tea partner would have to be... My Mum. For me, years of sharing stories or hugs or tears over tea really means she is the only person I would take. It would be the perfect treat as being pregnant means tea is still an ok beverage for me, and a treat for her before she becomes a Grandmum in October!

I spend altogether too much time considering potential fantasy dinner guests (Stephen Fry, Edith Piaf, Julie Walters and Pete Poselthwaite), but to enjoy a cup of the brewed stuff, I'd pick Judi Dench. What a dame. I'd love to know if the rumoured skinny dip during filming of Tea with Mussolini was true.

I am an afternoon tea addict - it's certainly my favourite meal of the day - what a shame it's not an everyday ceremony anymore. If I were to win I would certainly take my fellow AT fan, and best friend Dominique. She's seen me through many ups and downs over the past 6 years of our friendship, and always been there for me with a sympathetic ear and, of course, a good cup of tea! It would be nice to repay the favour for once - especially in such a nice tea room!
