Style resolutions 2009: Erin from Design for Mankind

Erin from Design for Mankind was kind enough to share with me her Style Resolutions for 2009. I love the very stylised graphic and product design images which often feature on her blog, like this British map. Although I don't have any evidence, I suspect her blog is one which Wallpaper-reading architects frequent, and other stylish people who wear dark-rimmed glasses and dress in black.

Check it out. Erin also publishes a monthly design magazine, Mankind Mag, which you can buy in PDF form for a meagre $1.99. There's no good reason not to. This issue has just come out. And not that you need another reason to visit her site, but she's currently running this fabulous giveaway.

Thanks Erin!

Q. What was your favourite design find/achievement of 2008?

A. Oooh, favorite? Such a dangerous word for me! I couldn't even tell you my favorite find from today, but I'll take a stab for 08. A find that really sticks out in my mind from the summer of 08 was Neo2's Paperfont. I loved everything from the concept to the flawless execution. Very inspiring.

Q. What are your style resolutions for 2009?

A. Interior design/renovating: My biggest goal is to find a house! I've recently relocated from Los Angeles back to the Midwest, where I grew up as a child. I'm currently living in my husband's hometown with our two dogs, and I just can't wait to find the perfect home for all of my artwork!

Gifts/Wrapping: I'm fairly anal about gift-giving (I have a spreadsheet budget complete with birthdates and anniversaries so I try to never leave anyone out!), so I guess my goal is to be a bit more spontaneous about it all. As far as wrapping goes, I create a new wrapping theme for each year (do you see how obsessive I am yet?). This year's "theme" is cardboard and craft paper with spray-painted metallic sticks as bows. It's sort of hard to explain, but looks incredible in person, and it's handmade!

Shopping/Fashion: My goal this year is to focus less on individual pieces and more on an outfit as a whole. I'm not much of a shopper, so I tend to pick up pieces here and there, but I'd really like to do my best to create more pulled-together looks!

Q. Which style/design blog(s) will you be reading in 2009?

A. Hmm, I can see myself sticking to the goodies I currently read: Grijs, Form Fifty Five, Malo and Today and Tomorrow (just a few!).
