This year I had grand plans of making an advent calendar.
I used red and white striped paper bags {so cheap!} and cut out a number on a cutting mat using a craft knife and green masking tape.
I was going to hang it on a line, using bulldog clips or wooden pegs, and red and white bakers twine, but I ran out of momentum after number 1. Next year!
I hadn't seen Martha's idea for basically the same advent calendar, but when I was thinking of what to put inside the striped bags, I did use this idea which I saw in the latest Anthologie magazine.
Chocolate eclairs with a festive touch, using a small strip of patterned washi tape. I think they look pretty on display in a glass dish.

That's just the way it goes sometimes, doesn't it? I have grand plans every Christmas that whittled away to nothing. This week, in fact, I was going to cut out a pattern for a tree trimming I was going to gift to people. It's Friday and it hasn't happened and it's unlikely to happen over the weekend either.
You've officially made it further with the advent calendar project than I ever have! I consider it each year and then can't seem to get it together. It's an intimidating number of days to tackle!
But you did the sweets and they look gorgeous - what a good idea. We did have some M&S toffees at the weekend and maybe if I'd done that to them we wouldn't have eaten them so quickly ;-)
hey! I just discovered your blog. and loved it. I am your newest follower, now.
have a Cupcake sweet weekend!

oh, theres a really easy way to solve that, if you go to the html of the image and look for where it says s### in the img url, its something like 320 or 640 normally and then change it to s1600, it should set it to a higher resolution. I hope that helps. I have to change the width and s### everytime I upload photos, groan
I had really grand plans to make an advent calandar too. Then November 30th was here and I just bought one- next year as you say!
Rhianne, I resize my images + change the s400 every time and it still doesn't help!
Oh no, the same happened to me last year with my wreath plan... was all set to do one and then just ran out of time. A very cute idea though.
I totally thought I would make an Advent Calendar too, but somehow December just crept up on me.
Maybe I'll bookmark this idea for next year and try again.
