Snow = plans cancelled, so time to put together some stocking fillers. I'll take any of these, please, (even the few I've included from my own shop.)

Egg saucer (£10), 5. Coral graph paper notebook (£2.25), 6. Blue enamel heart (£25), 7. Origami bookmarks (£6.95), 8. Cable knit slippers (£22.)

Underground Christmas Market

Papermash is going on tour... next Sunday, December 5th I'm having a stall at Ms Marmite Lover's Underground Christmas Market - it's held at her flat, in a secret location {ok, it's disclosed when you book a ticket} in North West London. There are lots of exciting stalls, most of which are quite foodie, and there's even a Dragon's Den event for food entrepreneurs, as well as live music, mulled wine and cookery demonstrations.

See you there? It's Papermash's first public outing, so I am eager to see what the response will be. I'm going to make some vouchers and a few goody bags exclusively for Tea for Joy readers {inspired by Oh, hello friend} - I will share next week.

Christmas items at Papermash:

Snowflake card {this comes in a silver envelope, with a little tissue tag, it's really very delicate and pretty.}

Christmas masking tape - in this holly design...

...and Santa design, for prettily wrapped presents or even making homemade cards. Apologies for the barage of Papermash mentions recently, I have to promote my shop in the run up to Christmas! I hope you understand. There might just be one or two more mentions before Christmas...

Book tickets for the Underground Christmas Market here.

Snow globes

Snow globes make me happy, so I commissioned artist Clare Owen to design this exclusive snow globe screenprint for Papermash. I love Clare's style, so I was excited to see how her designs would translate to the screen printing process.

My snow globe collection is fewer than I would like {currently none} due to my strict criteria of glass, no plastic, no Santas, reindeers etc, a neutral colour palate, and good quality snow - but perhaps non-tacky is missing the point?
The best of a bad bunch; I'm impressed that Waterford Crystal makes snow globes, such as this angel snow globe {£30} - I actually prefer their Time Square design, were it not for the fact that I have an aversion to hearts. On the right, I'm put off by the 'Merry Christmas' {in my mind, although possibly not yours, snow globes are not seasonal} but this Georgian House design from M&S is the most classy I've seen {although at £9.50 I suspect this must be plastic.} I think there's a gap in the market for a cool, designer snow globe...

A nice idea if not perfectly executed - snow globe decorations from Laura Ashley {in silver and gold.}

I'm very tempted to treat myself to these tea towels from To Dry For; Shake it by Charlotte Farmer and Eiffel Tower by La Cerise sur Le Gateau {technically not a snow globe, but very snow globe-esque, n'est ce pas?} If you've seen an elegant snow globe out there anywhere in the world, please let me know...

Tamielle

Tamielle works with social enterprise projects in Bulgaria and India to make these hand-embroidered hankies, and each beautiful handkerchief comes with a little tag with the name of the lovely lady who embroidered it. The hankies often use vintage illustrations as their inspiration, and although I've picked out the Christmas-themed joy and robin designs above {both £12}, there's a delightful range of men and kid's handkerchiefs too. I have ideas of styling some little vignettes, using them as mini tablecloths...

Midcentury Modern Fair

A very abridged post on today's Midcentury Modern Fair at Dulwich College, due to quality control issues with my photographs.

This should not have made the final edit {blurry photos = photography fail #1}, but I loved these glass poison jars and test tubes from Metro Retro {always my favourite stand.}

My friend bought the above chair and also its restored mate {which you can only just see in the corner - photography fail #2.}

Nice zinc crates and old Mason jars.

Midcentury Modern always has stands from modern designers too {today I spotted some of my favourites; Eleanor Pritchard, Ben Javens and Sally Nencini.} I also liked these upcycled drawers from Rupert Blanchard.

So, only four photos worth sharing, but well worth a visit, as always. My friend reckons that Mad Men has pushed up the prices of midcentury furniture - do you agree?

Autumn leaf craft project (failed)

So, I had my mum dry lots of leaves for me in glycerine, with grand ideas of an autumn wrapping or garland project. Drying them in glycerine turns them brown, but they stay soft and maleable and should last for ever {or so she says.}

Unfortunately, I'm full of grand ideas which don't always see fruition {I'm not much of a crafter.} I sewed these few with embroidery thread but I've given up on the rest. I am working on Tea for Joy Christmas gift guides for next week, but I was determined to show at least these few leaves first.

Check back next autumn for the {potentially} completed project.

High Street Highs

1. Lightning bolt tee (£38, Top Shop), 2. Orla Kiely radio (£149, John Lewis), 3. Ribbon weave cushion (£35, Habitat), 4. Patent shoes (£80, Kurt Geiger.)

Wednesday workspace: artist studio

I love organised clutter - there's a lot of things stored in those tiny shelves, but I bet the artist knows where everything is {often my excuse.}

Blogger's home: Ray Makes Do

I love these photos of Ray's flat, taken by photographer Emma Case, especially the organ in the bedroom, the vintage fabrics, the camera collection and the record collection - oh, that's everything! The photos were taken as part of Ray's super-cool wedding, which you can see here {vintage dress, check; voting slips for the best guest-made cake, check - and see how the bridesmaid recycled an old pair of shoes.}

{Photos posted with permission from Emma Case & Ray.}

Friday Link + Happy Weekend

Have a lovely weekend, I'm taking the rest of the day to work on offline projects {already Photoshopped out.}

No links today, except for this 'making of' video for Africa's United's animation; I love the vibrant colours and how they took inspiration for the animation from the local Rwandan kids. I'm going to see the fireworks on Clapham Common this evening, hence the above photo. Hope your weekend sparkles too!

H&M Home

Ok, so this is old news, but today I saw H&M's home range in its Oxford Street store {the one nearer Tottenham Court Road}, and I was very impressed indeed.

It's cheap as chips and the quality of {some} of the items seems pretty reasonable, especially their antique-effect cottons and linens. I wouldn't say no to any of the above...

1. Cushion cover (£7.99) 2. Textile basket (£14.99) 3. Towel (£12.99) 4. Tea towel (£2.99) 5. Bath mat (£9.99) 6. Laundry bag (£12.99) - all available online, too.

Pencil power

A tip off from brother G, at first glance I thought these were another set of colour-coded books, but no - sharpened pencils! I like...

via Crashfizzlepop on Tumblr.

Wednesday wallpaper: Camilla Meijer

It occurred to me, just today, that I could start a new weekly feature on wallpaper, since I have a lot of resources on the subject... Some colour from Camilla Meijer to contrast with this morning's workspaces.

Camilla Meijer is a Swedish-born designer, now living in London, whose designs focus on nature, some of which remind me a little of the detailed line drawings you could make with a 1980's Spirograph... {first Chocablock, now the Spirograph, the 80's are clearly my point of cultural reference.} Love the yellow wallpaper...

Camilla's collections also include lampshades and cushions in the same vibrant designs, and can be purchased by contacting her through her site.

Wednesday workspace: Danish edition

A double dose today, from Rum Magazine, my favourite resource for stunning Danish interiors. In the left photo, you can get a similar grey sheepskin from Modern Rugs, or a cheaper version from Ikea, and a similar wire paper basket from Cox and Cox. In the right photo, I can't focus on anything other than the striking grey walls, but I do know it's easy to find shoe lasts on Etsy...

High Street Highs

A week off from my usual King's Road excursion, but still some items I've spotted and hearted over the last week.

From top; 1. Beryl Ware Scarf (£123) from Jigsaw, if you didn't see the heart-warming story of Beryl and her knitting grannies on tv earlier this year, you can read this recent interview. 2. John Lewis coffee sack chair (£799), 3. Next rib cardigan (£35, and 100% cotton, if you are fussy about fabric like me - also comes in a nice camel colour) and 4. fabulously sequinned Kurt Geiger shoes (£100.)

Tea of the week: Brian Ferry

Tea of the week, by Brian Ferry on Flickr.

Some loveliness to begin the week, I'm excited to see Papermash in Creature Comfort's Gifted Magazine, which is full of pretty finds if you're an early Christmas shopper {I'm not.} And thanks for the Halloween costume suggestions, I went as a cereal killer {seen on Daily Candy, I can take no credit!} Hope you are having a happy Monday!
