Christmas decorations

This is the best I could do with photos of my Christmas decorations. This is the first year I've really bothered with any and I made a little bit of an effort. Ideas I've copied or come up with: milk glass brooches as decorations (I don't quite have enough but I lost the will to buy more), roses with hairspray and glitter, painted white willow branches, with mirrored string, starched white doilies, ribbon and gold leaf, and fresh mistletoe. I also really like the dove garland which I bought from Traidcraft.

UPDATE: I joined in with Violet Posy's Christmas decoration carnival - add your decorations too!

So pretty and festive! And speaking of getting into the spirit of the season, you totally made our year by including us in your roundup of top design blogs for The Times. Seriously we're still pinching ourselves! Thank you from the bottom of our home-improvement-lovin' hearts. We wish you a very happy holiday and a warm tea-filled new year!

I just came across your blog and enjoyed my morning coffee while perusing it. Lovely, especially all of the vintage "bits". I love the peek into Britain garnered through your blog.

I love the idea of decorating a tree with broches (and perhaps other jewelry, too). I have a collection of gorgeous pieces that I always feel a little guilty about never wearing--this would be a great way to let everyone enjoy them while keeping them special. Thank you for posting such gorgeous ideas!
