London love: Chelsea Flower Show

Some photos from the Chelsea Flower Show, happening this week.

Chelsea pensioners survey James May's plasticine garden (in literally their own backyard.)

Beautiful flowers in some of the many show gardens.

Others enter into the spirit of things - Emma Bridgewater pottery, and a local bicycle tarts itself up for the occasion.

All images from Flickr, from top here, here, here, here and here.

The Seventy Tree - I couldn't agree more! I looked at the tickets and they were £48! I have not been either and I imagine it is a bit of a scrum so I'm not keen. Next year I'm going to be organised and try and go early morning, during the week. There's lots of other fun things to do instead!

Lovely pics, we're so lucky to be going on saturday when I'm sure it will be an absolute bunfight and yes the tickets are ridiculously expensive, if you're a memeber of the royal horticultural society you get in slightly cheaper. I've justified it by saying that because we redoing our garden,I need the inspiration!
But what's also lovely is how all the shops around Sloane Square get into the spirit and fill their windows with floral displays, worth a trip just to see that.

Coming up in July, the Hampton Court Flower Show is more reasonably priced, especially if you go late in the day. That's in a lovely location, if you can get to south-west London, and I really enjoyed it the couple of times I went.

Flora - that's why I liked the picture of the bike! I would love to hear how it goes...Struggler - that's a great suggestion, I'm actually going to the Hampton Court Food Show this weekend.

There's a Food Show??? Wow, I would love to go to that. I used to live about 30 mins walk from Hampton Court Palace (insert homesick sigh!) but I don't recall a food show. Sounds wonderful - please report back!
