Tea of the week: Daffodils in a teacup

An ode to my favourite daffodils, now dearly-departed; I bought a very sad and lonely bunch last Friday, but apart from those have not seen any for weeks. I was slightly cheered up by the bluebells I saw alongside the train tracks - but not enough. Next year, DV, I am buying daffodils every week they are in season.

Yes, what happened to all the daffies this year? My OH went to get me some as a treat and came back with yellow daisies instead as daffies are 'now done'. Surely it's still spring??

I love flowers in teacups. I keep going outside to "check" on our daffodils some are still hanging in there, but this heat isn't making them too happy.

sounds like a good plan! when i was little, my mom used to always quote a.a. milne, "daffodils in a green bowl--and let it snow if it will!"

wishing you sunshine!

we had a great bunch this year. i think the key is buying them when they are still almost buds. you then have the pleasure of watching them bloom.

daffodils are a must for spring, only sad thing is the length of time after they are cut that they last, not long. love them in the pretty tea cup! :)

They are so pretty! I have just got back from a week in the Lake District, Wordsworth country, and whilst I didn't see anything exactly resembling a "host", every now and then we would come upon some lovely daffs dancing in the breeze on a hill walk and it was always a treat.

Beautiful photo! I love daffodils but they really don't keep very long. We got a huge rain storm the other day and it took most of the life out of the ones left in the yard!

We are inundated by daffodils in rural Georgia. There's even an elderly couple down the road whose entire yard turns yellow this time of year. An old friend of mine used to ask farmers if she could dig them up off the edges of their fence lines.
