Painted stairs

I love this photo, with its painted stairs (which caught my eye first) and its elegant chic. The books propped on the stairs make me feel like my stair 'props' are more acceptable (actually, mine are piles of unopened post which never seem to move anywhere.)

Today I'm taking part in Hooked on Houses Friday blog party - see you there?

I love painted stairs too, although not many people, including my parents share the same idea! I'm pleased someone does tho!

I love painted stairs, and painted everything. Tomorrow I'm embarking on painting my dining suite, the table will be antique USA white and a pretty soft blue for my cane chairs. Fun!

But do you sit around in just a cardigan Lynne?! Clearly the ultimate stair prop is the model

That's what I would do if I had my place - rather, if I could decorate any way I wanted.

Gourmet Chick - more than you might think! But, yes, of course the model is the main feature of the photo - but I still like the stairs!

Hi Lynne I am enjoying reading your blog while drinking a cup of organic green tea, the perfect way to spend an evening.

Cate - what's your strategy for making green tea? Do you add a splash of cold water first - so the tea doesn't burn?

The books do add the perfect sort of something to the great stairs.

Please stop by my blog. I am hosting a 200th post giveaway.

Love the painted-stair look. Maybe in my next house! Then I'll prop books and things on mine, too. :-)

This photo makes me even more certain that one of the next jobs I need to do on our home is to rip up the old, dirty carpet on the stairs that we inherited from the previous owner and do something more intersting to them with paint and maybe wallpaper. Then I will most certainly spend all my time lounging around on them swathed in cashmere!
