Giveaway: Glue and Glitter

Well, I always like to support the young little chicks, taking their baby steps in this not so brave new world, so I'm very excited about today's giveaway! (I'm not as ancient as that suggests.)

The prize comes from Glue and Glitter, whose kitsch offerings include everything I love; birdcages, teacups, trees and little cameras. Laura, the designer, is giving away a set of camera buttons, and this endearing tree necklace, to one very lucky reader. The items are made from her sweet illustrations, using plastic and resin. The buttons are especially popular with creative types who use them to customise all kinds of craft projects.

A short word from the designer:

"I am a young designer, illustrator and fresh from studying on a graphic design degree. I really enjoy being experimental with my designs, and often choose paper and pen as my medium to create all illustrations. Having said this I love reading up and watching others get to work on their crafts as I find this inspires me and gets me really motivated. I started off making jewellery, but have most recently been creating prints so that I can have fabrics and paper printed. Many more items of homewares and stationery are soon to come, so watch this space!"

How to enter: visit Glue and Glitter's Folksy or Etsy shops and leave a comment below, stating your favourite item! I would love to hear what you might have in mind for the little buttons - but it's not a requirement for the competition - it's just great to hear you share your ideas!

The competition will be holding the fort while I take a blog holiday this week - deadline for entries will be midnight on Sunday. And have a happy Easter, everyone. I've been totally successful in giving up Coke for Lent - but I've subsituted it with other carbonated drinks, so I'm not sure it was that difficult. If you are feeling spiritually uplifted, or even just excited at the thought of a four day weekend, please do one thing for me; visit Glue and Glitter's blog and leave her an encouraging comment - it sounds like (unsurprisingly) it is a very tough environment for a young designer trying to find a job.

My favorite Glue & Glitter item is the Audrey hepburn resin pendant on pink chain - I love hot pink and I love Audrey!

If I won the buttons and necklace I would give the necklace to my friend Katrina as she has all been know as 'Tree'. And I would make a bag out of a monochrome print fabric, trim it with the buttons and give it to my cousin. who is a wedding photographer.

My favorite items on the "Glue & Glitter" Etsy page were the adorable tea cup earrings and the tea set charm necklace. My friends and I are obsessed with tea parties, and those pieces just brought up so many happy memories :)

I really enjoyed the Audrey Hepburn pendant, she's my favorite. I also thought that the tea time brooch was delightful.

How fun would it be to make little bird, elephant, and giraffe buttons?

This stuff is so unique and creative!!!

I love the tea set buttons and magnets! So cute! I don't know what I'd do with the buttons, maybe sew them onto a tote bag, or sew them onto hair ties, I like to do that with buttons

Being an 80s child I love the 80's boom box cassette neclace. The tea and cake buttons are lovely too. Thanks for the fab giveaway!

The robots nuts and bolts are a definite winner for me, but then i do have an unusual love for robot illustrations

As for the buttons, i'd probably incorporate them in a cuff so they're a feature rather than an accessory, and chances are my sister will then steal it

I am a massive fan of the vintage phone necklace. My favourite part is the chain connecting the phone to the reciever.
I also really like the little tea set earrings, but unfortunately I don't own peirced ears to go with them.

Wow. It's hard to choose a favorite out of so many delightful things. But...the tea set buttons caught my eye more than once. They would be nice additions to my napkin holders (which are buttoned), and one would be added to my current tea cozy. Must...order...now...

If I win the camera buttons, they'll go on the photographer's bag I'm making for my daughter.

Thank you for highlighting Glue & Glitter!

They're all lovely - but, if I had to choose it would have to be the 'umbrella necklace' and 'scissors & buttons'. Good luck Laura and well done.

My favourite item is defintiely... the buttons. I can not choose - the cupcakes? the berries? I love the idea of the monochrome, simple drawings sewn onto for instance a red wool surface or some other strong colour....

Bravo on the coke-nix! My husband would drink it intravenously if he could. For that I blame my over indulgence as well.

I like the little bow buttons...it seems kind of like an ironic statement, sewing a flat bow on something the same way you would sew on a real one. I like the comedy.

so may beautiful items! i simply adore the bow buttons

I love the little camera buttons! And the necklace is so sweet. In her shop, I really like the little robot magnets. I know a little girl who loves robots, so I would get them for her :)

I guess I have two faves from teh Etsy page- I love the Audrey necklace on a pink chain. It is Ms.Hepburn and it is on a pink chain - it doesn't get any more girly than that!
My other favorite is the SLR camera on a chain. I am a photographer, so of course this would be a fave! I think that necklace would be a great ice-breaker in sittings with small children. It is so cartoony and bold that the kids would like it and it would give me a place to start when telling them what we are going to do in the session!

LOVE the vintage style bird frame brooch. But...I just completed a degree in fashion design, so maybe the so I also like the scissor & button one!

If I won the buttons and necklace, I would give the buttons to a High School student in our Youth Group at Church, because she just started getting into photography...and I would be selfish with the tree necklace, because it would look amazing around my neck...I might just have to wip up something new to wear with it!

Very cute stuff! I like the click click camera necklace. If I won the camera buttons, I think I'd sew them to the sleeves of my red raincoat :-)

So adorable! I like the "hello" thought bubbles to put on my shirt/jacket as a conversation piece. I also love the Scissors/Button brooch because I sew and it's a cute way to show off my hobby.
