Rough Luxe

I just saw this hotel, Rough Luxe, featured in this month's UK Elle Decoration. It meets the definition of boutique hotel, although boutique bijou hotel may be more appropriate - it has only 9 rooms, in a narrow Georgian townhouse.

One of my favourite things about it is how their vision changed during the renovation. London gallery owner Rabih Hage and a friend originally planned to do a straightforward modern renovation of this hotel at King's Cross. However, as they peeled off the old crusty wallpaper, they discovered old patterns beneath, and as the interview says, "The walls just started talking, so we stripped them back and left them."

Aren't you glad they did?

Mmmm...loving that big tub, and the wallpaper in the library. What a fun trompe l'oeil! And of course I adore the mustard lampshades on the chandelier!
