Pointless pencil

Sometimes it's the simplest things which bring me joy, like a meal cooked for me by someone else, a recipe shared, a lift home rather than a cold wait at the bus stop, the sound of rain at the window - or even, a simple pencil. Yes, I'm one of those people who would shell out £1.75 for this when I've got a whole stash of pencils at home, procured from various places of employment over a period of time.
