More Paris photos...

A few observations and some more photos from a weekend's trip to Paris. 1. I must brush up on my GCSE French so I can at least ask, in true blogger style, "Can I take a photo, please?" and 2. there are so many Americans in Paris! I've always found Paris a little dull {oops!} But, I've grown to like it more after several visits and have decided to become a more frequent visitor, as it was such an easy and relaxing trip.

From the Sunday organic farmers market, Marche Biologique Raspail, where the produce was delicious and there was a very long queue at the raclette stall...

My favourite haberdashery in Paris, Entree des Fournisseurs:

And my favourite find, from Pia's book, the calligrapher, Melodies Graphiques, whose walls are adorned with letters from all over the world. I bought some pretty notecards, even though I'm never going to run out of stationery for the rest of my life...

On this trip, I stayed in a fancy pants hotel, which I can never afford again - does anyone have suggestions of somewhere inexpensive but nice to stay, especially if travelling alone? I hope to return to Paris in January for Maison & Objet.

{PS We went to a fabulous cafe, Coutume Cafe - perfect for brunch.}

Washi tape wrapping ideas

Some wrapping ideas with Japanese washi / masking tape with new tapes from Papermash. From top left; book masking tape on a paper sleeve and old book pages; green checked masking tape bunting {made with baker's twine}; tartan masking tape bow and my favourite, a spotted masking tape bow!

Paris: Art Nouveau Museum

Some photos from Paris' Art Nouveau Museum, which is part of Maxim's restaurant. We went to see Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris the night before {such a cliche}, which features Maxims, and it was fun to see how the club was in its golden age.

The Poundshop

I love this idea! The Poundshop is a pop-up shop which had a few outings last year, but this is the first time it's been online. Organised by design collective Household and illustrator Sarah Melin, everything is £1, £5, or £10. All of the above are only £1! There are only 10 days left...

Tea of the week: at Merci

Green tea at the second hand bookshop cafe in Paris' amazing design store, Merci. {With Pia Jane Bijkerk's lovely book, Paris: Made By Hand.} More Paris photos coming up tomorrow...

Wednesday workspace: Heart Home

An early Wednesday workspace, to share these photos of the home of Jeska of Lobster and Swan, as featured in the new British digital magazine Heart Home. Have you seen it? Jeska never fails to inspire me with her talent for accessorising with old photographs, a generous amount of sparkle and other treasures {that's you, Bonne Maman jars}.

Photos: Simon Eldon for Heart Home magazine.

British designer: Mr Yen

Just a few examples of papercut work from the very talented Mr Yen, aka Jonathan Chapman, a recent graduate from the Leeds College of Art. He has a wide range of papercuts available from his online shop, which are reasonably priced {particularly love the feathers above, £25} and is available for commissions, too. His blog has brilliant finds, and I'm enjoying following how he is achieving his six month goals!

{PS: Winners from last week's competition are Gemmipop, Kirsteen and Hannah. Congratulations! x}

Tea of the week: a Papermash tea party

I'm excited to present, my first Papermash animation! I hope you will like it! It features many of my old favourites, striped paper straws, ABC cups and lots of washi tape!

Many thanks to the directors, Josh Hine and Jake Hopewell for embracing the feminine/vintage vibe {very impressed with Jake's paper flowers}, Ross Gilmartin for the music, and Hannah for the loan of props!
